Paper - there is something about holding a book that makes the act that much more; also i do love the smell of a book. I also think that having a collection of books in physical form leads more openly to discussion, and can be easily passed around from family to friend, adding a whole social and psychological meaning. Finally, a well stocked bookcase, like a pet, makes a house a home.
IMO a Kindle/equivalent technology is a no-brainer, I appreciate there is a romance and tradition of a physical book etc (and being a romantic it does also appeal to me), but the fact is the story is the same whatever platform it is read on, which is the the only real concern when reading a story; but beyond that the technology is just so much more convenient, more environmentally friendly, if that is something that concerns you; it (should be) cheaper and also allows you to download another book instantly, or bring multiple book when away for an extended period without taking up anymore room.
I have both, but am increasingly returning to paper. The feel is better, it doesn't require charging; and it turns out a lot of what I want to read is cheaper printed first or second hand.
That all said, e-readers do free up space and weight when traveling.
