I had to push pretty hard for a big dog... but I've spent a very long time researching their temperament etc and they fit with me energy wise.
This little chap certainly does! He's got the perfect combination of self assurance but is very calm!
It's funny it's a 50/50 split on people who think they have a fearsome reputation and others (like me) who don't see it!

its because of films, same with the Rottweiler but get a good one (if you can get from working lines all the better) they are very calm self assured dogs
not like the little doggies now they really are the devils seed nippy at ankles and yapping all bloody day

I have a 12 month old Newfoundland. He's 50Kg at the mo, but still has a year of growing to do.#
He's an absolute corker and I love him to bits. He keeps me sane and I'd be utterly lost without him.
