although some Newbees may never get the chance to discover what the reflection is about.

The bloke's absolutely right, if several year behind what a few of us have been saying about Habanos decisions for some while.

But hey ho, a little Chrismas read for you, call it the ghosts of Cubans past.

I am off to Havana later this month for a mini-vacation and with that and the recent death of Fidel Castro, Cuba is much on my mind. So for the next couple of weeks, my blog goes south (literally, …

      Something to reflect on, indeed.

I choked up when the author acknowledged that a version of the article originally appeared in Nic Wing's publication The UK Cigar Scene.

Now, with that out of the way, I should mention that I just smoked my first well-aged, thin-guage cigar the other night - La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No. 1. I must say, it was an absolute pleasure and joy to smoke. One of the best this year!

I hope the author is wrong about the future of thin cigars, but I'm afraid we are on the threashold of some very difficult times in the coming years, my friends. (Stay strong, Simon Bolivar!)

Peace to the UKCF! It's been a pleasure posting with you all!

I'm a relative newbie, but two of my stand out sticks of the year have been a LGC Medaile d'Or No. 3, and a RG Panatella Extra. Alas, I think (for a relatively undiscerning palette as yet) I see the point, just as the industry turns a chunky corner.

Also, as per the article, what is it with massive watches? I do not understand.

Haha! Chunky watches? Heck, I have't worn a watch since Easy Rider!

Besides..does anybody really know what time it is?

Interesting read and the 2017 releases provide further evidence of the trend towards thicker cigars. I'd be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the best thin CC still available, I have not smoked many but the couple of Por Larranaga panetelas I've had were very elegant.

Excellent read & have to agree with him Arf. Just didn't take me as long to find the allure of the slimmer vitola. Started mid gauge & worked down; we're a dying breed but that doesn't make us wrong. Stock up whilst you can, I'll be Ok but those who come after us will think 50+ is normal & the best.

Yes I'm afraid they will Si. There are still some thinner gauge about. Last year Simon at mysmokingshop.co.uk still had some unbanded SdC No 3 (yes, unbanded), but I went on about them a bit too much on here I think, and looking this afternoon they seem to be all gone.

Then you knew what you were doing .... good I hope. Talking of Simon, he has 8 single RyJ Tres Petit Coronas for sale. A long discontinued treat. I've enough to last me out, so there for whoever's quickest.
