  • Trump is U.S. President Elect, good or Bad news for UK & Cuba

So Clinton has conceded & Trump is the U.S. President elect; whilst some of our American friends will be choking on their stogies, others will no doubt be rejoicing ( I have one FB friend who hated the very idea of Obama health care). Not heard anything about his attitude to Cuba so there's an interesting topic, whether he'll continue the unfreeze of the relationship or tighten back up. Hopefully as a businessman, he'll do the former. And the UK? More golf courses?
One prediction, Hilary will never have the support to stand again so hopefully we can consign the Clintons to history.

No idea on his policies, his thoughts on Cuba or anything else really.

Its brexit 2.0 though, the political elite and mainstream media kicked into touch by the masses. The Donald has landed

Trump is there because of the business, he will soon open the markets to Cuba, he is a racist no doubt but also a business scavenger.
Surprising though that the CIA Hilary was not getting the votes....

Odd that after 30 years of public appearances he was only accused of racism when he stood against the Democrats. Nationalism is not racism unless its Nationalist Socialist.

I think that like Brexit, the vote for Trump shows that the liberal left politics of appeasement and ignoring the silent majority had come to an end. Let's wait and see what happens in France and Germany next year. Their elections could signify a shift to the right that would, in my opinion, be much scarier than Trump or Britex. Never underestimate the great unwashed, there is only so much shit you can dump on them before they start throwing it back.

I'm not gonna talk politics because I've long arrived at the conclusion that politics, along with and football and religion, are almost always pointless arguments due to most people's irrational behaviour towards their own affiliations, but I will say that I believe the Embargo will not end while Trump is President, and the fact that he is the President of the USA will most likely even delay the end of the Embargo for whoever comes after him which.

                USA...USA....usa...

Politics and religion - both bad news for peacful forums like this. Having said that, what I'm hearing from my Yankee amigos this morning is that hatred, bigotry and racism are alive and well in the USA, as is the belief that climate change is a hoax.

According to the guardian 'Trump has promised to reverse Barack Obama’s re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba and the ongoing normalization of the relationship between the two countries.'

Just one look at the guardian today actually and you can see them foaming at the mouth, simply aghast that people dont agree with them, a bit like brexit really. Perhaps if they stopped calling everyone with a differing opinion racist then people may want to listen.

Trump's certainly got no personal reason for ending the embargo - apparently not only does he not smoke, he's never touched alcohol and doesn't even drink coffee!! Mind you, of course it was stogie-loving JFK, ironically, who put the embargo in place - having first rounded up 1,200 H.Upmanns the night before...

Maybe, but when the former grand wizard of the KKK and a devout white supremacist endorse a candidate because they share similar views, I think it's safe to say that candidate may be a racist.

I remember seeing a Trump rally on TV where the crowd was yelling at a african american to "go back to africa." I don't know about you, but I would say those people are probably racists.

Some people are racist. Yes. The point being not everyone is racist, not everyone who voted for trump is a racist despite what the media would have us believe. I dont see why its racist not to want illegal immigrants in your country.

Absolutely correct, Shaun. Not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist, but if you are a racist who voted, you most likely voted for trump. Regarding imigrants, it isn't necessarily racist to be against illegal imagrants, but it a pretty good indicator that you might be, IMO.

BTW, I was just reminded by a yankee buddy that Trump was the one who led the "birther" charge against Obama for years, claiming he was a moslim not born in the USA and, therefore, not qualifed to be president. Hmmmm, wonder what that was about?

Anyway, I think my friends in the USA have some difficult times ahead of 'em.
