Ehrlich and his book The Population Explosion is something to flick through if you're ever on amazon looking for penny buys. I studied a couple of chapters this last year, and he laments this sort of stuff.

I think it is a regional thing, Robusto. Some regions are left relatively quiet due to people moving around the shop, and some regions are left heaving.

If everyone had a shack somewhere, and a box of good sticks...!!

We should take 80% of the UK haulage buisness off the roads. Investing in the railways building sidings into a central point where local vehicles pick up and deliver (Non HGVs). We should re-invest in the spiders web of network canal systems in the UK deliver by barge and collect by small LG vehicles for local distribution.

Ye the dog....put loads more money into the Railway and then at least me and MrMoore get more work..

On the more important side..Stobart DOES now invest loads more in Rail Freight, and as the largest lorry comp in the country they want to move more to the rail side..so big them up..

Sorry, back to topic....Cap the import of outside workers..

Yeah, there needs to be more investment in rail, agreed. It's greener, and one loco pulls tonnes of containers etc that would have been on the road. And the electrification policy seems good as well, cos that's gonna be greener, and quicker. Good stuff!

If there ain't a house to move to, then you have to move somewhere where there is one!
I cannot understand it either, when there currently 787073 empty homes in the UK.

Agreed, Derbyshire and Staffs are 'spacious'. Especially my favourite Peak District. Err ... anywhere else? Good question!

I live in Chesterfield with fields behind my house and a badgers sett at the bottom of my garden. 3 minute drive into peak district,15 mins to Chatsworth. Sheffield not far away which surprisingly has the most green space for any city in the whole of Europe - or so I'm told?! Please feel free to visit and share some of my cigar stash!

I miss Sheffield. Lived and worked there for five years and loved going out into its 'golden frame' surrounding countryside.

Love the Peak District. Looking forward to going up there for a long weekend soon as my in-laws have a house near Buxton.

                          Certainly no over-crowding there!
