Power to shed.
I have an external socket at the end of the house and I currently just run an extension cable from it to the shed, and just plug stuff into it.
It's messy, but it works.
My parents are kindly replacing the shed though and I'm after something that's a bit neater in the new one.
How have you run power to your sheds?
Anyone use solar power?
I'd like normal sockets in there. Lights too.

Armoured cable from mains or from a socket?

From an external socket powered from an internal socket so that I can isolate it from inside the house if necessary. The consumer unit obviously has a circuit breaker but unplugging everything from the house makes me feel a whole lot safer. And it was easier.

I use solar power for my lighting and radio. It's fine for that as they don't draw a lot of power. If I'm using any power tools I run a cable from the house

How much does that kind of set up cost? I take it this is a different solar panel that feed back into the grid??

It cost me ?20 for a 10 watt panel and I think ?40 for a 75am/h leisure battery. I was looking at another solar panel as the battery takes a bit of charging from that size panel. You can buy a kit with a regulator which is good for a smaller battery, as mine is bigger I don't need the regulator. So I think another 10 watt panel is in order

Another thing to consider with the wet weather and winter coming is the humidity in your shed or cabin if you have a tv or other electronics out there. I use a dehumidifier in mine which has been standing idle for months but when I went out there today I noticed it had crept back up to 70% which is not good so I've switched it back on for a while.

Then its damp, should be around 50% in normal conditions
