  • Cigar Smoking At The Wheel At Night

I travelled home last night from about 11.00pm and 3.00am on open motorway roads from the Midlands to Kent.

I do smoke cigars in my car if nobody else is with me.

Last night, I opened the rear sunroof slightly and turned the front fan off.

My drive home was a bit like this, really...

    Well...

I herfed off a D4 and a couple of Cohiba Magicos, and because there was no air drift in the car, I was effectively driving into my own slo-mo cigar-smoke mushroom clouds inside the screen.

    It was fantastic.

Smoking a ripe one in the car always stops me nodding off on a journey, too.

I hate it when I have to chauffeur my missus and kids on a long journey because I can't light up.

    Am I a smoke-driving pervert?
Does anyone else get off on smoking cigars in a fast car at night?

I dont drive yet but I could imagine smoking while drivin about. I take in the cigar experience a bit too much so I might crash or something from lack of concentration....eep

I can imagine it now, and I've only done it as a passenger in a mate's car on a hot summer afternoon. Filling a moving vehicle with thick, pungent fumes of Lady Nicotiana, until the driver's capacity to see moving traffic is somewhat obscured! Top stuff!

Top tune. Plenty of mellow radionhead tracks which are good for a drive, and some decent rocky ones too. Some awful shit to go along with the greats though...

I was listening to them - and U.N.K.L.E. - when driving, and then random stuff on shuffle.

I seem to listen to loads of Neil Young on shuffle. My iPod is biaised.

Cigars make me concentrate when a bit sleepy at the wheel.
They also always give me a great night's sleep.

Blimey! 4 hours from the midlands to your place? at that time of night what were you in a Smart Car? I normally do it in 2.5 without breaking any laws.
What part of the midlands were you?

              A14. South Midlands.
People probably call it West East Anglia, or something.

I went dark-dogging on the odd forecourt.
              Behing the powa-jets.
For the overhead camera portfolio, you understand.
              It helps kill time.

I got to the bottom of the M11 and the left turn to Dartford was road-worked to death, so I ended up going counter-clockwise for a while and then doubling back.

I think I got in at two and decided to catch up online, which probably took me an hour.

Make yourself a cup of tea on here and you've got 120 new posts to felch your way through these days.

I can get my car up to 110 and I do love it.
It's not even a fast car.
              It's bad, really.

You've got some quality tastes there Robusto, I always smoke whilst driving to tunes like U.N.K.L.E, Young, etc.
Its my fav way to smoke a nice cigar for me anyway.
I've got a long drive tonight and I am armed with 2 cigars and Aphex Twin for the bass bins.
                If..

                  Aphex Twin.
Another very good sound choice, Mr Moore.

Sometimes I think someone has stepped into the road a bit ahead, but it's usually a sign or bollards.

                  I like a nice junction.
I like how you can whirl off the A2 North at Dartford straight on to the Dartford Tunnel approach road now. None of those daft traffic light waits.

I'm pooped, though, after all that night cigar action. Still in my dressing room, and I'm supposed to be making a recording studio in a back bedroom. I've been inspired.

I also have Parcelforce knocking tomorrow with 50 RA Club Coronas.
                  This enhances my mood, this.

Must Head n Shoulders before she gets in from work. xxxxx

Being new to the world of cigars, I'd not even thought about smoking one on a long drive until I read this. Every couple of months I have to drive to Scotland on business - and suddenly I'm looking forward to the trip!

I do a few long drives through the night each week due to my work and there is nothing more pleasurable then open roads, music or radio 4 or 5 and smoking.

I'm always smoking in the car, 75 mile journey to work and 75 back again - just enough time for a Trini Fundadores

Smoking whilst driving is of course illegal, however were I to do it I think I would find a good cigar on a late night drive is a great companion and does really help keep you perky. However anything much above a robusto or corona means I usually end up scraping ash all over the dash board.... a Diplo/Monte 2 really is as far as I go... a churchill or a double corona is a logistical nightmare..... I should imagine....if i was to drive and smoke that is....which of course I don't....ever... even on those really long late night drives..... ahem!

PS glad the RAs eventually turned up Bryan
PPS let me know if you need any help with the spare bedroom set up.

                            Red Bull and Famosos.

Used to drive up to Aberdeen in the middle of the night for an early check in.A can of Red Bull and a Famosos were usually the weapons of choice. Can`t beat it mate.

                              Andy

                              I am starting with

                              "That's shit"
(new shower rails, unused kids' toys, etc)

                              "That's useful"
(condensor mics, popshields, drum machines, old Yamaha electric pianos, etc)

                              Then the layout.

I think the Nuendo (on PC) will be in another bedroom and the mixing/recording control will be a 20ft cable max away from any jobbing artiste. A temporary cable by the upstairs toilet. As it were.

Olly is driven up the wall by Nuendo on a laptop that starts ticking over, so we are both thinking and dreaming Macs.

I am sure we have enough kit / instruments / connections (including your good self) to advise and point the way.

What is certain is that there is enthusiasm and ability in this house to do it for fun - for anaesthetic, too - and the knowledge that you can still do great stuff if you haven't got the best kit.

I loved your set-up and only this morning realised that you have videos on your Facebook site. I didn't know and started having a root around.

I am looking forward to receiving whenever. It was very cool to meet up.
