So, Im quite interested in this thread as I am an independent consultant, working in this area. I have had nearly all my clients ask about using it in their projects, whether or not its fit for purpose. The whole notion of it being outside and the fact you have to move around also makes it very interesting. From a technology point of view, its a very very clever use of Augmented Reality which I have never been a fan of. Its also added several 100 million $ to the valuation of the games engine it was made in.
I too am annoyed by people jumping in front of cars, standing in shop doorways and needing rescue by the RNLI but I do marvel at the use of this technology, the development effort and the innovation employed to create this app.
