    • I wouldn't let him run me a bath let alone the country. I don't want the leader of my nation to viewed across the globe and some bumbling idiot. Just ask any right minded American the same question about Trump. I'm 45 years old and for the fire time in my life I actually felt embarrassed to be British after last night's result. Fingers crossed the doom sayers were wrong.

But just one thing to think on and please correct me if im wrong.... But a lower ? means that other countries get our good's cheaper, which in turn makes us more attractive to buy from, which in turn creates jobs.....
just heard intrest rates could go down to 0% bad news for savers good news for families with a mortgage they said.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Marc. I almost wish we'd stayed in because Social Media has just been flooded with thousands of bleeding hearts bleating and whining. Man up and look to the future, no one knows what will happen and you might be pleasantly surprised.

            • I know it's an anxious, uncertain time for us all, but countries like Norway and Switzerland appear to do pretty well outside the EU and I can't see us doing any worse than them. Change is always difficult but I'm optimistic and think things will work out okay.

              • America, Germany and a host of other leading economies don't want us to fail, there is will to help us thrive.... We are not alone.

But beyond that, if the EU fails due to Brexit then it didnt deserve to survive. If it reforms for the better to survive then we have given the world a gift

                • Had to share this from my local Facebook group

A Prime Minister resigned. The ? plummeted. The FTSE 100 lost significant ground. But then the ? rallied past February levels, and the FTSE closed on a weekly high: 2.4% up on last Friday, its best performance in 4 months. President Obama decided we wouldn't be at the 'back of the queue' after all and that our 'special relationship' was still strong. The French President confirmed the Le Touquet agreement would stay in place. The President of the European Commission stated Brexit negations would be 'orderly' and stressed the UK would continue to be a 'close partner' of the EU. A big bank denied reports it would shift 2,000 staff overseas. The CBI, vehemently anti-Brexit during the referendum campaign, stated British business was resilient and would adapt. Several countries outside the EU stated they wished to begin bi-lateral trade talks with the UK immediately. If this was the predicted apocalypse, well, it was a very British one. It was all over by teatime. Not a bad first day of freedom.

                  • Social media & our media in general are happy to jump on the doom & gloom bandwagon!
I'm happy we've done it & I'm proud to be part of making modern history. We should be more of a nation with a 'Glass half full' mentality.

                    • The hatred im seeing from some remainers is very telling of what fear filled, small minded and inward looking people they are..... Ironically all things they are accusing outers of being and all traits which will only hinder the nations fortunes.

I am absolutely dismayed to have just watched a discussion on the BBC hosted by Evan Davis, where a young [so called] social writer expressed her opinion that the opinion of a brexit backing fellow guest was not valid because he is a "privileged white man" and that under 30's should have had 2 votes because they will be around twice as long.

Some of the people creeping out of the rafters to shout and scream are not interested in democracy, they are only interested in their own sense of self importance......

Well, the entitled generation have finally been told NO and they dont know how to deal with it.

                      • I'm hoping that in say, 5 years, hopefully sooner, we'll see terrific growth & prosperity.
Where will the naysayers be then? Hopefully back under their stones, hiding!!

                        • I don't usually get involved in political discussion on social media such as this as it is a very poor medium
I for one voted to stay as no one could actually tell me what was so wrong with Briton for the last 40 years I love leaving I a country that embraces people from other countries that has always been at the front helping out other countries in need and I feel this is a slippery slope into becoming a inward looking small minded country and i think if you look how both sides used immigration in the debate and that despicable fargae poster with the Syrians we may be on our way to this already
I also feel that the outters and the conservatives have managed to convince people who are less well of them them selves are some how to blame for all there problems (you can also see this happening in the USA with Trump)when in fact it is the fault of government who have not been investing in schools hospitals and other infrastructure that are the real problem
I and maybe it is the part of the UK I live in (London) have never spoken to anyone who could actually give me a real life exsample of some one not born here taking there job, there place in a hospital waiting list there kids school place etc etc

this is not to say the EU is perfect far from it but unless some one can tell me other wise we will still have to except there terms which includes free movment of people but we have no voice in changing laws polices etc
also I keep hearing people who voted out telling people who voted in to stop moaning and think of ways to make things better, well since no one from leave has given any polices as to how we will deal with this how the man in the street is meant to do I have no idea
anyway just a few of my thoughts

                          • Was that the poster with the blonde girl looking back from a sea of black burkas? I thought that was a clever adaptation of the picture from Homeland Season 4 regardless of its message.

I spotted that.... Creative but ghastly.... Also there were some brexit images using war memorials, which were utterly deplorable.

The whole thing proved Brits will go to the polls.... Hopefully they will continue to participate as strongly in domestic politics, and force the average up on the quality if debate.
