  • Hacked Amazon account and someone's happy travels :(

Well I've sat back this eve watching some nonsense on sci fi - random channel hop - I decided to check my recent purchase from Robert Graham's (Joyas and Padrons - delicious) only to find that ?800, yes ?800 has been hacked out my Bank of Scotland account which has paid for various UBER and trans Europe train fares in France.

Seems it was an Amazon hack. I'm getting the money back but seriously ....

    Time for another rum.

Sorry to hear that. Had a similar incident a few years back with someone gambling on Paddy Power with my money. Took a couple of months to get resolved but I got the money back in the end.

I called BOS security and they were great although they were asking where in France I was presently got that cleared up and they said the money will be returned when I complete some paperwork stating that it's a fraud etc. They immediately asked if I had an Amazon account...its one of the easiest systems to hack for info. Call handler explained the process! at least I have a back up if work goes down the tubes The rail fares were all a couple hundred Euro and 40 - 60 Euro taxi fares. Just goes to show and I am rubbish at keeping an eye on my accounts.

Fucking hell - gutted that happened to you.
It seems Amazon need to get a grip of their security.
I use strong passwords, two factor authentication etc - and yet it seems that what matter for nothing if Amazon just decide to give out your information:
Amazon account hacked with basic social engineering leaves much to be desired with Amazon's customer support security.

I won't discuss but it seems it can be a simple as "dear Amazon I have forgotten who I am...yours sincerely Field Marshall Mugabe, Nigerian Army"

That's messed up....never thought Amazon was so useless with security... There customer service is always spot on...never looked at security...gota make sure I delete my card of it.

Just had my Amazon account hacked too, which Amazon have admitted too but seem to be blaming me for clicking on a spurious link on a random email.....yeah right

I admit that I still use Amazon despite the issue that I had. I have placed a 'basic' bank account card on it which lies dormant except for the transfer out of money spent on goods.
