Anyone buying Android boxes make sure you know what system chip it uses and check what it supports on the Kodi Wiki otherwise you might have no hardware acceleration.

The above Tonbux has a very well supported Amlogic S805 so should run fine.

The only other issue to consider with these chinese Android boxes is ongoing firmware support. The company might support it going forward or you might be ShitOutOfLuck. But thats the chance you take.

I bought a Kodi box off Ebay for about ?45 and then following some advice on another forum, took out a SportsMania.eu subscription. All the sport works perfectly, never any issue with any of the feeds.

I'm looking at that as back up once my TV subsection runs out next month if they don't give me a good deal for the next season

I just updated kodi with exodus and it works fine on the firestick. I still prefer showbox on chromecast

Raspberry pi at 30 quid can't be beaten IMO. Boots straight into kodi in 10 seconds and is a doddle to set up.

Went with fire TV in the end.
                        Reasons:
                        1) The Mrs won't notice I've bought it, cos it's the same remote
                        2) The Mrs and kids can use it easily without ringing me up every five minutes cos they broke it
                        3) It's faster than the firestick and has ethernet
                        4) It was on offer again
                        5) I was bored

Yea just buy or us an old SD /micro SD card install openelec (IMO is the best version for the pie.) Then off you go really.

I've heard a lot of people mention these boxes. Decided to go for the Nvidia Shield when it was amazons deal of the day - earlier this week.

I'm new to kodi - could anyone recommend some add ons please? Which are the most popular?
