So definitely worth buying?

I'm now looking at what else I can get him!

The thing is, if you're a five year old, not a collector, you really couldn't give a flying fox who made it - so long as
a) It's fun to build
and
b) It's fun to play with
From a parent's point of view
c) I could buy him 10 sets and still not have spent what the lego version would cost.

Another alternative to Lego is Mega Blocks which appear to be compatible and have military themes. MLW bought this for my birthday and I've just finished it

They are. "Mega Bloks" ...My nephew has some. They do kids and adult stuff

we pitched for the Millenium Falcon... and it arrived. Go with the known chinese brands and the quality is spot on. warning... the Millenium Falcon kit has more the 1300 pieces... and its a freakin task and a half to build. three nights in and its just about half built!!!

Thanks for the pointers guys... I have one 5 year old who is about to go mental when we unveil it!!!

Post a photo of the completed article. Two of my sons have bought the Lego version for their brother's birthday on Saturday and it will be interesting to compare them.

i reckon this was about 5 hours build time for two of us. the first half of the 105 steps takes a lot longer than the second half.

The cost was $45 and loose change, delivered. We had a handful of pieces left over at the end which are mysterious and superfluous... and we were short two small pieces which we happily replaced out of our existing big box of lego.

All in all delighted. My son went bonkers opening it up and exploring around it... getting him to school this morning was a trial apparently!!!
