  • Advice for first coffee machine.

I am currently thinking about taking the plunge and buying a coffee machine. Trouble is, I have no idea where to start.
At the moment, I use a press at home, and Melitta filter papers and a holder when I am away fishing.

I don't want a machine that makes a jug of coffee because most will go to waste, so need a machine that makes one at a time.
I like the idea of a Nespresso machine, as does the wife and kids, but can I use my own ground beans with a Nespresso?

Any help and recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Technically you can if you buy refillable capsules but I have now tested and reviewed several alternative compatible capsules and none of them have been as good as Nespresso pods for quality and taste.
My filter coffee machine will make coffee for one person

      they come in

      2 cup
      6 cup
      12 cup

      spoilt for choice I'd say.

So one option would be to carry on using my press/filter papers for the beans, and a Nespresso for everyday coffee?
That sounds like it covers all the requirements, and should keep the family happy too.

I was looking at one and most of my colleague recommended the Lavazza A Modo Mio Fantasia LM7000

I haven't bought one yet...wife isn't keen one another appliances in the kitchen...

Thanks John. Sounds like this could be the winner.

That looks very similar to the Nespresso machine I was looking at.

From what my colleagues were saying is that the lavazza coffee is nicer....but like a cigar its personal preference... I have to say I had a latte from it and it was lovely.

They are johnny the tighter you press down the coffee the stronger it becomes
The lavazza crema e gusto is our favourite brand.

Cheers everyone. I think a Nespresso machine looks like it is going to be the winner.

Now, where do you pick your capsules up from?
