I tried to light a cigar with matches or a Bic lighter too many times when there was a breeze... Made me buy a jet lighter and I never looked back... Though matches do have a romantic feel to them... 😊

On holiday in the DR I couldn't buy lighter gas or matches and had to buy a Bic lighter and quite often had to put a towel over my head to block the wind to light up. Some say it was a visual improvement.

I always prefer a soft flame to a jet which I only use if smoking outdoors. The jet flame just seems such a violent way to light a prized cigar!

I always use long matches to light if I am indoors. Love the ritual of striking them, and the beautiful aroma when they initially light. (Not sure I could be bothered with little short things though...)

I have a jet lighter for lighting outdoors (and touching up whether in or out). No matter how much I love the matches, there's no way I'm going to arse around competing with even a minimal breeze to light a cigar with them outside.
