Picked up a couple of Swiss Army Knifes

Hi guys, I was out yesterday with Mrs Roy at a big antiques barn in Lanarkshire, I was keeping my eye out for a nice ashtray but had no luck. Instead I snagged these two knifes, I didn't know much about them but at ?13 for both I knew they wood be good VFM.

They are obviously well loved and need some attention but nice cleaned and oiled should provide years of service. I'm sure there must be a few on here who has one or two of these?

i have one of the knives in the second picture... simply dont recall when I was bought it (as a gift) and it is still as good as they day I received it.

the only thing i have noticed with victorinox is that the blades seem to dull quite quickly on the larger knives.
that said i have a tiny one which is possibly older than the other, and its teeny blade is exceptionally sharp.

nice find... great value.

Excellent! These two will need some new scales and a couple of missing bits added, the prices are very reasonable. I hope to use them for years to come.

The second knife I ever had was a SAK, a little bigger than the ones pictured. I still have it, just has the tweezers missing.

Do you use it much ? I found the tweezers on the Bay for I think less than ?2 ish

I have to admit I don't. I normally carry an Opinel, a small Spyderco or a hand made Perigueux. I should probably bring the SAK out of retirement.

I carry a Leatherman and a small lock knife at work and they get plenty of use, I had an Alox SAK years ago and loaned it out and it wasn't returned so have went without one for every day use. These will definitely be getting carried and used.

I looked at eBay again 6 pairs of tweezers for ?5.95!

Edit: I saw the Spyderco on a thread the other day, very nice [emoji106]

Multitool wise I carry a Leatherman Juice CS4, alongside a PITS folder.

To this day i regret the loss, as a kid, of an inherited SAK from my grandfather... It was abig old multi blade multi tool one of everything jobby. How it fell out of a pocket i do not know... In woods i know backwards.... Spent the following ten years or more looking for it. Could still walk you blindfolded to the spot i realised i lost it... Some 30 yrs on! I do hope someone found it and still uses it and passes it on in their line....

partly why i now have oodles of knives and stuff my kids will get and give to theirs!!! From opinels to some fairly toppy sandviken steel handmade jobs!

I carry a Gerber Dime and a Byrd Rescue.

The blade on the Dime for opening packaging is particularly useful.
