Although it sounds like a lot of money and people shouldn't be able to get into such a situation, I wouldn't fancy raising 11 kids on 27k.

I agree the state is to blame for making it easier for this bloke to claim for 10 years than to work. It's an extreme example of the failure of the welfare state in providing a lifestyle instead of a safety net for society's most vulnervable.

when house is paid off he'll have a house that's worth X amount of money and hasen't paid a penny for it.

How are they paying his mortgage? My brother in law gets disability benefits as he is severely affected by Spina Bifida, he can only rent as he is not allowed to benefit long term from his benefits.

It's bonkers, I've always been on the fence with topics such as this... It's controversial either way...

That was until I heard my neighbour. I live in a terraced property in the old part of town, out street is quiet and 65/70 % lovely... To our left are all renovated properties and nice people... To the right 3 houses the same as ours as slum... I genuinely feel for the people!

We have had a prostitute several drug dealers and the guy 2 doors up got put away for murder... That is still generalising as arguably it's not all their fault.

However, in May I heard a guy in the top flat talking about not working and getting beer money, his friend said how great it was, followed by "if those dumb c-bombs are dumb enough to pay for us, I'm going to take it".

As a 40% tax payer, employing people, generating VAT etc etc... That was really the line...

But, as I said controversial!!!

They pay a percentage of mortgage interest, not the capital repayments. So the debt will remain until HE pays it off.

it is easy to find the one bad egg but most people who are on benefits which they were not horrid way to live most live had to mouth
who cares about the odd one who takes the piss focus on the many who are suffering who would want to live like that

I guess you need to include a lot of corporations and people with high personal wealth in the piss taking category then.
Corporate tax loop holes, if closed, would make the benefits bill seem insignificant.
But it's a lot harder to demonize them than it is to just blame everything on welfare claimants.

If I have to pay for a handful of freeloaders to ensure that the majority that really need help are looked after then so be it.

I grew up as a kid needing that kind of help, I class my contribution as repaying that debt.
