Great idea for a thread. I re-started my wardrobe almost from scratch a few years ago to reflect a smarter look as well so will be great to discuss with others.
Re: the OP - sounds like you?re pretty well covered! Only thing I noticed was you mentioned lots of staples in neutral colours, which is great as a base to then allow you to add flashes of colour or patterns to go against the neutrals. So if you?ve not already done so then I?d suggest getting some coloured chinos, t-shirts etc. and then incorporating one of these into each outfit.
More generally, the key thing for me is always fit. You?ll always look better in something cheaper that fits you, than something expensive that doesn?t. My strategy on this is to find shops/brands that fit me for a certain things and stock-up! For me I find Banana Republic t-shirts fit me well, for polos it?s Ralph Lauren, chinos and casual shirts are Uniqlo etc.
I?d also echo others on getting suits and jackets tailored where possible. Or buy off the peg and have alterations made; the key there is to make sure it fits you in the shoulders and chest off the peg, and then adjust the length and sides etc. as there?s little that can be altered in the shoulders once something is made.

Agreed that cheap does not mean bad. I love the Boston Crew plain white T from Asda and they fit me perfectly in a medium ?6. H&M have some decent basic stuff in too.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I went in today, very nice place very up market..... Slightly intimidating.
The quality of the clothes to my uneducated eyes is superior. Certainly beyond anything I have ever owned. Prices are generally beyond what I can realistically stretch to, though shirts starting at ?120 is doable for special occasions.
Oh and I got it wrong, there are 13,000 materials to choose from.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I had a conversation with a lady from The Chapar yesterday talking through what I normally wear, if I'm looking to try anything different, any pieces I specifically need etc.
Just received an email to say that my box will be delivered by DPD tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on.

OK, I received my "trunk" today and as promised here's a rundown.
As you'll see in the pic below, these are big, sturdy boxes and unsurprisingly everything contained within was well protected
I was surprised at just how much was packed into the box; a big coat, Chelsea & desert boots, 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of chinos, a belt, 4 shirts, 4 jumpers and a long sleeved polo shirt.
As you can see from the pic, they have been bundled into items that you can use to mix and match into outfits which I thought was a nice touch and no doubt why the service is so popular
Now, there's no doubt that the clothes are at the premium end of the price range with prices to match (?50 for an own brand belt?!)
I really liked most of the items and barring a few fit issues with some brands (to be expected, especially with jeans) I was very happy with the items chosen, expect for the jacket which was a bit too close to terrace wear for my tastes.
Out of the 5 items that I wanted to keep I could only find one cheaper elsewhere (the Hackett jumper for ?20 less at John Lewis) so they seem to have the prices right as well if you exclude the online shops selling their last pair of jeans in a 26" waist at a discount.
Sadly ?580 is a bit rich for me at the moment so I'll probably get 2-3 items and order the jumper from John Lewis.
The box comes with a returns label and sealing stickers and you arrange for DPD to collect the trunk at no additional charge (nor is there a charge for delivery).
Realistically if you're looking to buy clothes at this price point I'd recommend giving them a go as I've chosen a couple of pieces I probably wouldn't normally have bothered to try on [emoji106]
