Bloody good dog. Bet the handler was dead chuffed.
Was loading in a bit of a gale earlier this week. Perfect for partridge, those that made it over the guns were real screamers and had a bit of curl on them too. Thankfully it was a damn good team of guns that day - lesser teams would have never made the bag, even with the keeper's super-human efforts to get enough birds over them. (Not an issue on a nice little syndicate or family shoot, but fairly important for that keeper with a boss/accountant to keep happy).
Off to Wales tomorrow evening (this evening, as I type this). Have been invited on a shoot up in the valleys just outside Welshpool by someone who wants me to sell some days next year. I offered to head up in February to have a look around at what he's got and I was told not to be silly... "You'll only appreciate how good this shoot is if you have a go yourself... I've got a peg on the 7th, come and join us." Obviously I didn't need asking twice. Stuck between Vaynor Park and Powis Castle it should be a belter. Stocked up on some manlier cartridges than usual too. Hopefully I'll get a couple of photos.

it's such a pleasure seeing them working all by the whistle and by hand signals they never seem to get tired
quick drink from a puddle and off they go again.
