Some smoking related bits from my Grandfathet

Hi folks, digging about in the garage today and I came across a tin I have had since I was a teenager, searching through it brought back some great memories none more so than we I found these:



I remember getting a few bits and bobs of tools when my Grandfather passed away about 40 years ago some I still use today. I must have popped these in my box and never bothered with them.

I remember him puffing on a pipe at the side of the fire and as I type this I can smell the smoke and see him contended enjoying himself. Got them tucked away again until the next time I'm feeling nostalgic.

Nice one, unfortunately no Cigars inside just some copper nails he used for making those string pictures in the 70s

I use my grandparents dad's pipe tool regularly it was nothing special to him not expensive or unique yet becomes something much more important with their passing.

Mnemonic triggers fer sure ... Coming home to the smell of stale cigar smoke always brings back memories of my dad .

needless to say ... I am one of few people that's likes the smell of stale cigars in the house .

My Grandfather was a pipe smoker too, I remember him sending me to the local shop to get his tobacco for him. This was around 40 years ago when children could do such things. He smoked Condor, it came in a block and had a green wrapper. I don't think you can get it anymore though. Maybe some of the pipe smokers on the forum will remember or know of this and indeed if it is the right details.

Indeed, as I was writing the post I was transported back in time with all the smells and sounds associated with him smoking his pipe. I have clear memories of him tamping the knife into the bowl.

Think you can still get it from specialist tobacconists.

That's the one Roy, of course he had a pocket knife to cut it up and then rubbed it by hand before smoking

Excellent, the knife in my photo is a pipe knife and I assume my Grandfather did the same.
