  • Emotional Morning

Sitting alone and a Family member comes round to give me these. It seems my Maternal Grandfather who was in the Navy in WW2 kept these with him during the conflict. He was torpedoed twice and credited these with saving him. The strange thing is he was not Catholic and no one knows where he got them. Keeping them close.

That's a lovely keepsake Roy with a great story behind it

Wonderful Roy, a lovely momento and connection to the past , my grandfather was a major in the RE in Burma building and repairing airfields and went through it a fair bit , I'd imagine during those testing horrendous times when all hell breaks loose you would cling onto any last hope of reality to try and keep your sanity. Treasure them Roy as I bet your grandfather did during his darkest moments

I hope they are as good to you as they were to him

Family heirlooms, cost minimal worth - priceless. Always sad on Antiques road show when you see people desperate to sell something personal that should be kept for their heirs. Enjoy your memories Roy.

Can you just even imagine being a submariner and getting hit?

Lovely inheritance there Roy. I'd be tempted to keep in the work's car

Thank you very much, I thought the same. There is no monetary value for these but the are priceless to me. I couldn't imagine letting them go.

I can only imagine what went on and how the young men coped. He went to war with his friend who was sadly killed. My Grandpa came home and looked after my Gran and Uncle, they later married and had two more kids.

I did think about keeping them at work, still not made up my mind [emoji1]
