Not sure how clearly you will be able to see this one in the forum. Its a panoramic of a little loch with Simon fishing away in the bottom right hand corner there.
So I had contact on the first night on the lure but it got away. I then spend all the next day near constantly pounding the water but not getting a thing. So the next day we walks down to the other end of the loch and works our way back along the bank. It really is a very beautiful place.
So except for the occasional pose for a photo I am chucking the lure out as much as I possibly can as getting a bit miffed I haven't caught anything yet.

Then we gets to this bit and simon reckons its perfect place to catch and he has the perfect lure for me. It sets it up and shows me how it works.
Why, oh why did I open my mouth and ask him to show me one more time.

Aye you caught a fish simon, goody for you. *incoherent muttering under his breath*

Hi Guys, just noticed I have a rare moment of G3 cover in the flat, just read this thread started by Wigan. As always, the evening Wigan left, the run rate improved & I had 6 pike for 42lb. Things have been slow it steady since. Today had fantastic weather & a Party Short '05 after breakfast on the bank (not recommended for beginners!) & a Party 898 '04, which I believe I received from Tippex S.S. Unfortunately it was rather tight, even the cocktail stick didn't improve it much, put it down just above the band. I can't recall the last time I smoked twoconsequtive cigars from the same brand it I thought the first was an R&J No3 Tubos. The 898 was lucky though (& thanks Arf'), I caught my biggest so far 11lb 07 on a dyed red Smelt. Just as we were taking the photos, I was upstaged by an osprey diving for as small pike of it's own! Later imoved up to the Beach swim, I had a had a jack in the weeds on a Rapala 18cm minnow in Fluor orange. Then two more dbles before the close of play. This took me past my target of 158lb to give my 4th best total for single leave total. So now aim hoping to break the 200lb barrier before Mon midday. Will post loads of pics on Tues, when back on the rig, just to say Wigan really gave it his all, taught him everything I know about pike fishing in the first 2.5 days & on the 3rd day he beat me with his new PB of 5lb! We'll done mate, you certianly put the effort in.

Hi Nick, Yep heard about those fish, love to give them a go one day.
So safely back on the rig today, trying to catch up with everything after a months away. Here's some more pics from our hols: The first dble, lovely conditioned fish. SAM_1194.jpgRuns always come when make a cup of tea & eat a sandwich, put them down & after you have put the fish back, you'll find you will have, stepped on/ knocked them over; not taking the chance here! SAM_1201.jpgLooking down the business end of a pike, don't know if you can see the details clearly but the teeth are many & very sharp! SAM_1204.jpgThis time caught have a smoke, when I had a run.SAM_1222.jpg Another nice fish, around the 8lb mark.SAM_1235a.jpg The view down to the dam end of Loch Ascog. SAM_1237.jpgThe Bute Angling Association own the fishing right to all but the biggest water on the Isle which is Loch Fad, they limit members to 60 & no new members are being sort. Plently would like it restricted to islanders only but until then I'll be going every year. They were still talking about the 17lb 03 I had last year, which is perhaps not so surprising when even the committee members I spoke too haven't caught an upper dble there in the last 10yrs. Here is the beast I caught last year, would she show again?Pike.2014.06.06.17lb03.Ascog.SAM_4843a.jpg

Wed 18th Wigan after flogging the water to a foamy soup, caught a fine wee jack all on his own, must have have been attractive as I thought he was going to kiss it!SAM_1270.jpg Afterwards we visited Loch Fad & gave Wigan an idea of what we might get up to next time!SAM_1244.jpgSAM_1246.jpgSAM_1250.jpgOn Thurs 19th, Wigan's last morning we went up to the Wee Dhu,a small 7-8 acre loch up the top of a hill, lots of climbing with gear normally for me to fish it but this time we had Wigans car! It was cold & windy & the fish weren't really in the mood. I was really hoping Wigan would catch something to back up the first he had unassisted, only the day before.SAM_1263.jpgSAM_1266.jpgPic od a fish Wigan landed for an 'assist'. Then just as I was beginging to think we would fail, I sent him ahead of me so he would be the first to cover the fish. Having already 'stolen' a fish off him whilst demonstrating a goldfish Rapala lure, I didn't a want to repeat it on the last day! SAM_1255.jpgHere's the stolen fish, being flipped off the lure hooks to save beaching it. Suddenly a cry went up & I dashed around the corner to find Wigan playing a very fine fish for such a small water. I safely landed & unhooked it & photos were taken & Wigan's new PB is 5lbs. It took me from 7yo to 15yo to beat that myself! I had clearly taught everything I have learnt in 30yrs of piking because after just 3 days, he beat me that morning 1 - 0.SAM_1271.jpgOK more tomorrow.
