I was expecting Conservative but got Liberal Democrat.

It's interesting that pretty much noone ever reads a party's manifesto ever. Due to that I am quite surprised by how many got what they thought they would get. It also shows that we are driven not by facts or actual promises of the politicians but by what they 'think' they stand for. Doesn't matter what they do in the end either because no one who voted Torie for the past 20 years will now vote for Labour, no matter what Cameron would have done in the last 5 years. And vice versa of course.

This lack of knowledge we all have about the actual content of what politicians stand for (I am no exception here) could explain the surge of Farage though.

I always wondered... what if you couldn't vote for a party, but only for proposed policies. Every party hands in their manifesto, all key points go on the ballot paper and which ever party gets the most votes for their policies, wins the election. I think many people would be in for quite a surprise who they actually 'should' support if they really wanted to vote in their own interest.

That's the purpose of the quiz and you're right, it should form the basis of future elections thereby removing the personalities from it

Exactly... That's the biggest flaw in democracy. We naturally are drawn to personalities. We don't vote for the person that would do the best job at it, we vote for the person that is the most likable. And if we learnt anything from watching High School movies, the popular kids are never the good ones...

Somewhat not unexpected, as I'm an old school classical liberal I can see why have floated between the Libs and Cons (although the Liberal Democrats aren't Classic Liberal)
