  • Cigar bands.

Noticed this while on the net, do you think they have used a clear varnish?

Probably a clear varnish. Look up "decoupage" on google. If you put that into ebay you'll get all the stuff you need

I've had thoughts of doing a humidor similarly, but it hasn't progressed past that stage

Evidently, they used Mod Podge glue image.jpg

I would personally finish with some proper shellac image.jpg

I've been toying with a similar idea for a while. I always keep my bands and now have rather a lot.

I wonder who has the most on here?

Sorry for digging up old thread, but one question - how to peel them without any damage? I tried with some cheap cigar bands and they peel off easily, but all my Cohiba bands are damaged at left side. I tried dry, I tried over boiling kettle and effect is the same.

Annoying isn't it? Il occasionally get one that peels ok, if not you could always cut the seam. This guy probably overlapped the glue tab with other bands to hide it.

It it is a great table. I plan on getting one of those frames cut where you can frame multiple things like they use for cigarette cards etc. Still the undamaged bands are few and far between

Smoke it to the band, tap off the ash and carefully slide it off without burning your fingers if it won't peel. If you take it the other way it will often catch and tear the wrapper.
