Not big into the sports bikes. I'm a big lad and I imagine I'd find a sports bike very cramped and hard on the wrists lol.

Hey big dog, nice selection you're thinking of getting. 600s are v quick still. Had a Ninja ZX6R in the past. Last bike was a 900. Cruisers look great, but are very front heavy. The choices you mention are good bikes. If you're gonna do motorway riding I'd say to get something with fairing on it. Hornets and bandits are fantastic bikes, but cross winds and unfaired bikes are stinkers on the motorway. Maybe the newer models are more aerodynamic. If you test ride one, try and get it on a long stretch and get the speed up safely to check for winds hitting you. Best of luck bud, keep us posted with what you do decide to get. Congratulations!

@ Simon - I'm on the lookout for the 'S' versions of those bikes because they have a half fairing and offer some wind protection. Plus they look awesome. I'll keep you posted on what I end up buying.

Nice one bud. Would love to hear how you get on, and maybe a pic! Or link to the exact make/model. All the v best. Exciting stuff. And something worth buying is a decent lid. I still got my Arai, only a few years old. They offer great protection & comfort. All my other gear, boots jacket etc is RST. Good value & protection.

Congratulations. Few things beat the feeling of your first ride on (your own) big bike.

I jumped straight from a 125 and onto a GSX-R 750 (SRAD) daily in all weathers and journeys (I didn't have a car license) and they were without doubt the most enjoyable couple of years I've had on the road. Don't discount small bikes al together though, had a full power NSR125 for a while and while it wasn't super bike fast it was an absolute hoot to ride, and hilarious at the traffic lights as it sounded like an angry chainsaw and shot off into the horizon quicker than a most things on 4 wheels.

Stay safe though, the roads are mental out there and riding a motorcycle is about as close as you can get to wearing an invisibility cloak when it comes to other motorists!
