We will soon see, the radio just said that beer may come down a few pence.

The money taken off the beer they will probably add it to cigars and pipe tobacco.

As I buy basically zero cigars in the UK it should have basically zero impact.

It's cheaper to fly to Europe a couple Times a year as it is.

I read that 25% of all fags smoked in the UK avoid UK tax, I wonder what rate cigars would be at?

I think I read that borrowing was ?6bn less than expected last year due to higher than anticipated tax receipts. So there will no doubt be some pre-election giveaways, though I expect they'll be on alcohol.

It would probably be a bit of a tricky message for them to go-ahead with plain packaging on cigarettes (despite the evidence from Australia suggesting it's a bad idea) and reduce tobacco duties in the same week!
