Given how much money he helps to bring into the BBC, I don't thing there's much of an argument he's over paid. Top Gear in it's current format can't he far Off the biggest grossing Show the BBC has ever had.

Regards to the general consensus that punching someone is a sackable offence , I agree that an unprovoked assault is certainly stackable, however I disagree that it should always be a saxkable offence . I have always worked within the building industry , and amongst working class people, however came from a very middle class background , prep school and grammar school educated . In the world I live in everybody is extremely polite and courteous if your not you'll be sat on your arse, simple rules to abide by ........ Sadly I've come across so called white collar well bred individuals who certainly do not come from that world who treat people with no respect or courtesy and are appalled when some lout hits them . I'm not saying Clarkson was right to hit this person wether he did or not is still an issue . I'm not a fan of clarkson bit we do need people who aren't afraid of being politically correct .
Maybe if people from all works of life expected to get punched if they illtreated and were rude we may all be more polite and respectfull to each other. And on that note I'm surprise Clarkson himself hasn't got more black eyes as James may says he's a cock but a likeable one

I know some of things he says is annoying like him not long ago slagging scousers off. But i do like him on top gear he isn't afraid to say what alot of people think. If BBC let him go top gear will surely follow it wouldnt be the same without him

Top gear will certainly survive without him , it's been on our tv since 1977 and was at one point a very good tv programme about the cars normal people drive and I so miss that part of the show sadly it has digressed to a show about the presenters acting like tears, lots of laughter and gizmos but sadly lack of substance

Jeremy Clarkson is good on top gear but the car world is much bigger that JC, he is old wealthy and ready to be put out to pasture. The older he gets the more stupid stuff he says! He reminds me of Prince Philip "Looks like it was made by a China man" and the like. Get some new blood in I say! look at jodie kidd on that other car show, she isn't bad? You could do with a F1 / WRC driver or something.

I was chatting to a tv producer today and he said Clarkson's problem is that he has become bigger than the show. They don't like that at the BBC.
