  • Possible MBA management challenge

Some of you may know I'm in my final year of an MBA. I now only have the management challenge to produce.

Facebook seems great for quick posts, photos of what you're currently smoking and quick hello's with like minded BOTLs, with other cigar forums, like UKCF, ideal for more in depth discussion, reviews, box splits and resource. I know some BOTL refuse to have a FB account so therefore miss out. My question, which may form part of my MBA assignment, is if there was a UK specific iPhone/ android App where you could post quick photos of what you are smoking, and chat with other like minded UK puffers, similar to the FB timeline, would you be interested? A dedicated FB for cigar smoker but not associated with FB in anyway, so possibly more members. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I think it's a great idea Craig. As you know I like the spontaneity of an app such as Cigar Dojo. Would be good to have a UK equivalent.

I would preffer that photo blogging integration was slick On the forum, you could then interact within the forum from an app In a similar way to the Flickr app social aspect.

There could be a photo timeline in forum with photo comments available. I would be most interested in this as it's integrating the facility and aspects I miss out on by not having Facebook or instagram without having to sign up for s whole other community. The community is already built around a forum so why not turn forums into what the community is chasing rather than splitting people's activities over multiple formats.

Edit: it would actually kill a few birds with one stone, It would replace DropBox for my cigar photo archive. It would allow public viewable albums by user or by searchable Info e.g "Trinidad Reyes" could link to photos of that cigar. We get to keep the "Tweet" posts as TJ likes to call them Off main forum and On the "social" section. There could be an option for favourite photos that keeps an all time Top 10 and a "Trending" top section.

The more I think about it the more I like it. I do think that forums as they are are in danger of being left behind.... which is a massive shame because as a source of readily available historic information they are unsurpassed IMO.

I'm not sure that a FB style would work too well, I love the fact that forums are open to all members, even newbies such as myself who has no connections but I can be involved in all or most aspects of the forum. A slicker forum style with better photo integration and a dedicated app would be good. I know there's tapatalk, but I don't think it quite hits the mark.

And would it be a neutral zone where beligerent members of other forums wouldn't attack people in print or take the piss out of people who don't have access to it?

Eh? Are we not just talking hypothetically for the purpose of MBA coursework.

And that was a hypothetical question.
