Started to watch the Four Seasons in Havana last night on Netflix- a detective drama set in Cuba. It was really good, there are only four episodes (I am guessing one for each season...) and they're 1.5hours long. It reminded me a lot of Wallander - the existential crises, the brutal cases, and the decaying beauty of the location. Certainly worth a watch
Well with some long deserved downtime earlier this year....I managed to catch up on quite a lot with Netflix...Just finished Lost In Space....Dr Smith is better than the original, certainly gives a great twist to the character.
Another one I really liked was Altered Carbon - I agree with a previous post, very Blade Runneresque.
The OA is worth it's emotional twists and turns, whilst you try and figure out what's going on
And the Netflix original "Gerald's Game" from Stephen King's book - great film, great adaption from the book
Just finished the first series of Unforgotten. Not a bad premise, some very good performances. My main issue with it is that some of the dialogue can be a little mumbled. Other than that, very much recommend it.
I’ve just started Suits on Netflix, I didn’t think I would enjoy it but it’s been surprisingly good so far (4 episodes in). It’s a bit over the top and exaggerated but it’s a nice easy watch.
Just watched on Netflix, Lone Survivor (2013) starring Mark Wahlberg - based on a true story. A brilliant film I really enjoyed watching, quite sobering, especially towards the end
Just finished Deadwind on Netflix.
I would say it is a fairly standard murder mystery series with some twists and turns thrown in.
Overall, I quite enjoyed it. One thing I did find strange was some of the script. At times it became
fairly blunt. Not sure if this is due to translation or language. Overall though, worth a go if you can
handle subtitles.
I've quite enjoyed the new Matt Groening series on Netflix - Disenchantment
At first the main characters are annoying, but once the series gets a few episodes it all mellows out a bit and the stories/jokes get a chance to shine. There are a few nods to Simpsons/Futurama too
Watching "Jack Ryan" on Prime at the moment, which is quite good.
The guy's no Harrison Ford, but he's also thankfully not Ben Affleck....
Next up will be the Expanse, I hope!
