Then there's GNR, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, a bit of Ratt, Bulletboys, KIX, Helix, to name a few…
    A mix of 80's and 90's.

Currently researching, researching and doing more research lol,
currently like the look of the Jackson models, i.e the Dinky

    Any advice GREATLY appreciated.
Hands are smallish, fingers aren't long and slim.
But not short and stubby, lol
I personally love Jacksons, you can pick a dinky up for about ?130 and can get some killer tones if paired with the right amp. i have a Jackson pro 8 string which is amazing for the price i paid. Amp wise i would go for a modelling amp, they have pre-sets which make them sound like bigger more expensive amps such as Marshall or fender etc. I would suggest either looking at the Roland Cube series or the line 6 spider series, both cool little amps with a lot of power and options to play around with.
But most of all it is to get a guitar that looks good to you as it will make you want to pick it up more often!
And if you do take up the hobby i can not recommend this site enough, http://www.songsterr.com/

Hah hah I agree about the look of the guitar!

Someone mentioned the following, with regards to the amp:

"Get one with distortion & reverb"

      What's this about Harry?

        Ah great link bud!

        Wow…
I think you're gonna become my 'go to' for guitar Q's Harry

        Hope you don't mind!

        Also ---

I found on the net a pedal, I know there are quite a few around,
it's an american built one called the: Suhr Riot pedal

have you heard of it and seen what it can do?
It produces serious metal sound (found in RATT songs)
        Amazing little piece of kit...

Well you have a clean tone which is the amp normally, then distortion is what gives you your metal tone. Reverb is a big part of the tone you are looking for. The amps i mentioned have both clean and distorted tones built in. I have added a link to a few YouTube videos that may help you pick an amp and guitar. Hope they help!

Haha those books are a mixture of mine, my brothers, dads and granddads [emoji4]

No it's old school mecano haha

It is indeed an S butters can't remember what model now, certainly wasn't a prestige though. Blasted thing went up about ?150 in price not long after I sold it (doesn't sound much but I paid ?220 in the first place) it was a lovely guitar to play but it just sounded too light wish I kept it all the same now. Nice collection dude!

Cheers Simon. Most people ask is it a left hander haha! Harry is correct I meant too say buy a branded starter fender was just the first one to come to mind [emoji4]

Also electric is easier to play than acoustic but you'll be a better player ok acoustic as for it too sound right you've gotta be spot on with your fingers where electric you can get away with being a little sloppier especially once you add your effects in (distortion and so on)

I've got quite small hands and didn't find some of the chords a struggle at first but repeatedly trying it opened my hands up and getting a 24 feet guitar helped as well as they're all ever so slightly smaller.

I've got a Spider III amp and it's a cracker just a little large. If you have the space for a full size amp is recommend it as most small amps aren't much good

I bet that was great! Love the Line 6 stuff. I kept meaning to buy a pod but never did. Look like a fantastic price of product!

I think it's a Roland my brother has as his bass amp and that's small but good! I had two Marshall practice amps and didn't think much of either to be honest

Yeah, when it comes to marshall the cheaper stuff is rather crap. I have my JVM 800 which is by far my best amp, cant beat its tone with my Gibson lp

Yeah as almost everyone knows there bigger stuff really is the stuff of legend. I did look at buying one of there valve amps but couldn't justify it in the end and glad it didn't as even my Spider has just sat there gathering dust in recent years [emoji20]

                            Hi Harry,

Might be a stupid question, but could I realistically learn on this type of Jackson?

                            Or even this?

However, would like to grasp the whammy bar eventually

Quite like something a little unusual looking.
Although might be best to stick to a relatively normal looking Jackson?

                              Harry,

Is it worth getting myself down to this store - having a look at the prices and feeling them in the hand?

I would deffo go into a store and at least hold the guitar before you go buying one, that way you would know if they feel comfy to hold and if the neck is an okay size for your hands. Also you can ask a member of staff to play something on them to hear how they play if you cant yet play yourself. As for the previous question, either of the guitars stated would be fine. I like the v shape guitars as they kinda lock into your leg and stop it from sliding when playing sitting down.
