  • Took a punt in some CoRo's

Hey chaps, I bought some CoRo's that were offered cheap on one of the untrustworthy auction sites. They arrived and seem legit but have a smell of solvent or printing ink or some other undesirable smell I can't pin down. It seems to be overpowering the smokes and I want to know what you guys think? Will it purge itself or shall I just bin them? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1414575372.646563.jpg
To be fair with my run of bad luck lately should of warned me away from taking unnecessary risks! I'm a glutton for taking a gamble, this time it doesn't seem to have paid off.

I think I'd hang the sticks in a muslin bag or similar in a well ventilated place (shed?) to see if the smell clears.

Do you think it might then? It's my guess that they come from some damaged stock maybe or have something wrong that the seller knew of. I messaged him but don't expect anything.

Its got to be worth a try before binning them. Try and get somewhere with a bit of breeze blowing over them. I would hang them on my washing line for a day at least, especially if the bin is the alternative.

Boxes look fine. Get them out of all of the packaging, give them some air (away from your other sticks) for a few days/weeks and see if hey come round.

+1 on what Monk has said (all the packaging including the inners). Normally I would keep them in the pack, but by the smell you've described I would guess the packs are retaining it.

I think there's a trick involving crumpled newspaper and charcoal or something else to get rid of odours. Rice might also work, but rice absorbs moisture, so I wouldn't leave them near rice for too long.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Would that be the newspaper and bicarb that Ross was recommending for scubadors?

Took a punt in some CoRo's

Ok chaps, I can hardly believe this but I did as advised and got rid of the boxes, the cigars themselves smelled of chemicals too but I popped them in an old cigar box and went out for three hours. When I got in I checked the progress and the smell appears to have gone! I'm leaving them in the old box for now but will introduce them to their new housemates tomorrow if no smell is discernible. I have another worry now though. The cigars are about a cm longer than my old CoRo's! Has the size of this vitola ever changed? I am now wondering if they might be a very convincing fake.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1414594980.106362.jpg
