  • Nicotine & it's effects

    Hi everyone,
    A bit of a question..
As a relative newcomer to cigars & being a non smoker beforehand, I am finding my way around what I like etc.
Along the way though, I have had some different experiences.. I'm trying to train my palate to pick out the flavours that are contained within the cigars.
I have experienced the nicotine 'kick' that comes along now & then with different cigars. I have also experienced the need to go to the toilet after a cigar that gives out a bit of a nicotine kick!
Is this normal?? It comes on within about 10 mins of finishing the cigar, I have to go..Sorry to be crass - It's usually a loose no.2!!

Could you tell me if anyone else has had this ??

    Cheers,
    Wayne

Yep, can be very helpful, its just your body expelling the excessive nicotine which is a poison after all. Push it too far and you'll puke too.

If smoking indoors, make sure the room is well ventilated.
I made the mistake once of smoking with a window slightly ajar.
After retro haling like a dragon, and filling the room with creamy smoke my belly turned green about an hour afterward!

I almost always have a sweet coffee or a sprite or something with me when I have a smoke lasting more than 20 minutes.
Can't remember the reasoning behind it but your body uses sugar to get rid of the nicotine in your body...or nicotine releases sugar into the blood or something.
        I can't remember.
Either way, it's an excuse to grab that full fat coke and leave the diet ones in the fridge

That's right, sugar counteracts the effect somehow

Oh, and new Coke Life isn't sweet enough, the loss of taste also doesn't justify saving 50 calories either!

Thanks everyone. Glad to know it's fairly normal!
I usually have a cup of coffee or tea & sit outside but, good to know about the sugary soft drinks too.

              Cheers,
              Wayne

I dont seem able to cope with the nicotine effect of some even medium rated cigars. It makes me feel dizzy and "green".Thanks to advice here on the forum i know what it is and how to deal with it.I dont remember having the experience when smoking a pipe but prefer the lighter pipe blends any way.

to be honest you should smoke more slowly and when you feel weezy stop smoking and keep soft drinks nearby and if you cross the line and get sick chug a can or two and vomit but hopefully you wont get to taht point if you slow down eventually you will adjust in my view

also not everyone can detect flavors except for basic sweet sour salty bitter get a cigar flavor wheel as a guide is good in my view to be honest also avoid fresh igars in the early stage of sick period if you no waht i mean

Mate I use a nice strong latte and a cigar to get things going. Nothing like a nice cigar and a crap. [emoji6]

Thanks for the advice. Usually I get the buzz, have a drink & a pause & it dies down.
I've noticed that if I do rush, mainly to keep the cigar alight as it seems to go out a bit too quick if I don't.
                          That's when the nicotine hits.
Good advice about the flavour wheel, I'll be looking for one of those.
                          Thanks again everyone

Try a draw a minute as a guideline

I went a bit OTT with a gurkha royal challenge Churchill last time I was out on pi$$ needed a ten minute kip in toilets of pub to steady myself.
