I found this fun IQ test if anyone is interested:

40mins time limit and 39 questions. It's the best IQ test I've seen. There are no language questions, so English speakers don't have an advantage. The test is based on logic and not education. And also, it's in black & white, so people who are colour-blind are not at a disadvantage either.

I scored 133 which is pretty respectable, then I went back and tried to figure out all the ones I missed. If anyone can figure out questions 37 or 39, please let me know - I didn't spend much time on 37, but 39 has been keeping me awake for several weeks!!!!!

    ********** WARNING **********

The rest of this thread contains answers and clues to answers, so if you want an accurate score, don't read any further until you've taken the test!!!

      Hi old kid

This is the 'Off-Topic' board, we don't want your puros in here

Oh btw, the maximum score there is 143, which I found through trial and error of the correct answers. Knowing WHY they are the correct answers is the interesting part

Good little quiz Martin, and it`s good that it has been designed in that format, gives everyone a better chance of a level score.

Regarding Q39, boxes are being rotated 90% clockwise, top to botom , from left to right, and the symbols must always change after each rotation, except for the triangles when moving from one level to the next one down, i think you will find that E is the correct answer.

          Hey Whisky!

I don't follow your reasoning. Actually I've spent hours looking at this one and still cannot find any logic behind it! If we number the boxes from top row 1,2,3 then 4,5,6 2nd row, 7,8,9 bottom row, then the only logic I could find was that box 3 becomes box 4 when you rotate it and box 6 becomes box 7. Other than that I can't see the pattern.

But I do know the correct answer and it's not E.

Of course you found it fun: You scored 133!

Not to brag, but I am a member of (American) Mensa, thus I should be very good at taking this test. After all, that's all being a Mensan means; that you're good at taking IQ tests.

              I scored 110.

To hell with all this topological shite, give me my good old "Shoe is to llama as porridge is to: a) coal b) Liberace c) tethered weather balloons d) hare-lipped beggar dwarf."

                Hi rokkitsci

I'm not a member of any intelligence groups but I've seen the kind of tests you mean. I really don't think they are fair at all because one might not know what a llama is. Those tests require a particular level of education and experience of life, which is unfair if we're trying to measure how logical a brain can be. But I think, in essence, the theory is very similar. In the test we have here, instead of comparing objects for similarities we're looking at basic symbols and shapes which everyone is familiar with.

What is your IQ as measured by Mensa? Do you know which Standard Deviation they use? This test is done with SD 15, and they use different SDs all over the world. That will definitely affect the comparison of scores from different tests.

110 must be very much lower than your Mensa score, so there must be some difference in which functions of the brain are being tested. I'm a little suspicious about the accuracy of this IQ test as the maximum score is only 143 and you often hear of people with much higher IQs than that.

                  You don't say, senor RocketMan.

I dated a senorita once who also was a mensa member. A bit of a bore, actually, but man...what a piece!!!

I don't know what happened, one minute I was taking the test, the next minute, i woke up on my desk with my own saliva running down my cheek. I think I fell asleep. Sorry. Next time I have 40 minutes to spare think i'll light up a Cohiba and sit in the sun in the garden.

Scored 110 too 'rockkitski', can I join Mensa, we can smoke digars together at the meeting

'Smoker'... 133, did you did you create the test???

No, of course not! I'm just good with those types of puzzles I think. Anyway 133 still means about 4-5 wrong answers, so not too outstanding really. 110 is still above average, I have one friend who scored 100 and another who scored 130. I think it should be called a test of Logic really, not 'IQ' whatever that is.

lol. I agree with your better way to use 40 minutes. I scored 115, but I actually stayed awake. Obviously that falls far short of 110 in your sleep. Imagine if you'd stayed awake!

Not fair? The way I see it, if you don't know what a llama is, you've no business competing in an intelligence contest. Don't know what a llama is... what kind of a world are we living in?

I have no idea what my measured IQ is. They changed the test several years ago to pass/fail. The only thing I know for sure is that your little "IQ Test" is obviously flawed if you got a 133 and I a lowly 110!

Knowledge shouldn't be confused with intelligence. People's intelligence is determined by genetics, not what they learn from studying. A person that has lived an isolated existance without the benefit of books or education could be just as intelligent as a member of Mensa. They would not pass the Mensa test though.

You 'know for sure' that this test is flawed, and your reasoning for this is that I cannot possibly have a much higher IQ than you?

Nice logic!! What do you do at Mensa? Park the cars?
