I must admit that I am not a fan of the Evoque, and am totally perplexed at JLR's insistence on Evoque-ifying their entire range. They've even decided to ruin the Disco by turning it into a big Evoque with the next incarnation (if the press releases are anything to go by - it certainly doesn't look like it'll be half the vehicle that the current Disco is, and it'll be hideously ugly to boot!)

It's easy. Buy a Range Rover Sport.
Then, if you decide you really should have got an Evoque, get an elephant to sit on the back end.
You've now got an Evoque! Job done.

That sounds bad, Dya have a piccy? The whole point of a disco is the space inside and the versatility of 7 seats or a cavern to put tonnes of stuff in. Or anything in between.

Take a look at JLRs record sales figures and your perplexity should resolve.

If you are worried about your image buy a Disco or a Sport.

I said earlier the vogue is the daddy of range rover. It's the boss's car where the sport is the upper management car. I love my disco tho.

I only ever looked at the Disco, wouldn't mind a Range but Disco is much more versatile, good towing capacity!

                    Onyx?

We get a lot of nice cars on the estate at work, this one however didn't tick the boxes for me.

Oh Lord... there is a black Onyx up here, it's just missing a Max power sticker....

Point taken monkey (actually ended up chatting with one of Land Rover's top marketing directors at the Game Fair, it's all driven by the massively expanding Chinese market - though even he was concerned that they would end up losing the identity which makes them so attractive in those markets to begin with).

Have a look at the following link. Looks like it'll still be pretty capable, but will not have quite the go-anywhere feel about it. Plus, silly things like no door handles, reversible rear doors - very nice from a comfort point of view, but for loading people in and out efficiently on a shoot, not so much. Touch screen everything (including on the steering wheel) - great idea for country users who might be covered in mud etc... Won't be able to get a damn thing to work!

It's more for the avoidance of BIK tax on the vehicle, the Evoque is substantially less, along with being a lot cheaper to run on fuel.

Would love a new RR Sport, had a look at one today but the tax is astronomic!

I'm torn between a new Evoque and a 13 Plate Disco at the moment.

Spec'd up a black one with black wheel etc that Shukers are quoting for me which was very smart, demo car was great to drive, made the discovery feel like an old bus.

Would miss 7 seats and the towing but rarely use either-my name says I am a builder, but I sit behind a desk and do the arm waving rather than actual building!

                          Thanks for the advice all!

Agreed on the new Disco! Looks bloody awful, purely for the Asian market full of silly gadgets, it will stop people like me buying them.

I used to have a great Defender, black with all the off road kit but I swapped it for the disco due to the miles I was doing. Still love them, shame they are being discontinued .

Ive just got to make a decision on wearing the extra cost on tax and fuel for the practicality of the disco.

People hate the Evoque until they drive it, I hadn't even considered it, I was sat in the dealership sorting a new disco and there was one right next to the desk which got me interested as it looked great. Had a demo today and it was cracking to drive.

Just seen this 'Defender Nurburg' I haven't seen one before and don't know anything about them... but it looks pretty mean. DSC_0196.jpgDSC_0194.jpg
