    • This advice was on an amazon review.

I've bought this oil a few times now, so I've mastered my routine which i'll share now.

Step 1. Wash your beard. Make sure you use an organic/natural soap or beard wash or something similar. Avoid using cheap shampoos, conditioners, body washes etc they will strip your beard of the natural oils.

      Step 2. Towel dry

Step 3. Apply Percy's beard oil. IMPORTANT - if you have dry sky you can use more generously, but if you naturally have oily skin use very sparingly. I have oily skin so I literally only use a drop. Work from the bottom upwards, working the oil into your beard and skin, this can take some time. Go wash your hands. Remember oil can take some hours to sink in (unlike silicone products or cheap moisturisers) and they can leave a shine. I like the shine as does my girlfriend as she says it makes it look super clean!

Step 4. (Only if you have it) For me this is the icing on the cake. Apply a tiny amount of beard balm. I have to import this stuff from the USA (percy if you're reading you should get some!) this really brings everything together and helps to bring an amazing shape

Step 5. (Only if you have one) Apply a little moustache wax, for me this helps everything look neat and tidy. I don't have anything crazy like a handlebar but it helps keep those stray hairs at bay.

Step 6. Comb! Very important. This will help work the oil into your skin & beard even further.

Step 7. Leave it be! Once you're ready, don't play with your beard (however tempting it is) You've just given it a lot to work with and it'll take an hour or so to work it's way in. After a few hours you'll have a beard that feels amazing. If it feels too oily, you're using too much oil if it feels dry, you're not using enough! Go with your gut. But I've been using oils every day for months now and it still took a few weeks until I felt the true benefits.

In terms of value for money this oil is great. I was a bit sick of spending ?7 for a bottle so small it ran out in a month. Seeing as Percy is such great value I've even started using it in my hair.. works great as a replacement for wax/gel., gives a nice slick look and it holds surprisingly well!

      Hope this helps future buyers!

MLW bought me Penhaligons Sartorial , as recommended by a forum member

the smell is fantastic as was the Tom Ford

the Penhaligons is much better value tho 100ml for ?45

if the Tom Ford gets reduced in the sale its well worth a purchase
