A bit like the watch thread.

I appreciate nice pens and have a small collection of what I believe to be quality yet well priced pens.

I Will update some pictures and hope that others also join me.

In addition I would ask some advise, I have always liked the style of the Mont Blanc Meisterstuck range of pens, but having experienced my father in law's Meisterstuck I am unimpressed with the relative quality to price... so can anyone suggest a similarly styled pen of good quality for under ?70?

Not sure if any of the Waterman range have quite the looks you're after, but I'd definitely recommend having a look at what designs they have currently. Very good pens, and some are sub ?100.

I have a number of the 'Perspective' series by Waterman. The fountain pens are lovely to write with. The rollerballs are nice to write with, not not quite as nice as I'd have liked (but that goes for any brand of refill I've used). I will say that I think that's because I prefer a fine point, when I accidentally used a medium Waterman refill it was wonderfully smooth.

Funny you should say that, the 'Waterman Expert iii' is currently Top of my list.

Haha! Was the one which struck me as being most reminiscent when I was having a look at their website. Would certainly get a thumbs up from me (well, overall) - worth seeing if you can find somewhere to see how it feels in the hand etc. They're such personal things. One of the reason I love my pens is that they're just so damn heavy! Makes them a joy to write with over long periods.

The only 'nice' pen I have is a Pelikan fountain pen which is simply a joy to use.

My daily pens are a Parker Jotter stainless steel fountain pen (which replaced my 17 year old Vector when it snapped in my pocket) and usually a Bic crystal or Papermate. The Parker is cheap enough to pop in my pocket and not worry about being stolen and the biros are for writing on sample pots (don't take real ink well) and the occasional sheet of carbon paper. Might get a better biro at some point but for the now its handy to have disposable pens.

Oh, and I very occasionally use a stainless steel Parker Jotter mechanical pencil too.

Mmm, I'm not really up to speed with the pen scene, but I like looking at what's out there when it arises.

I've a nice condition Parker 25, to which I retro fitted a medium nib. A bottle of damson ink and off we go[emoji106]

I did have a similarly nice Parker 25 Rollerball until my lovely wife lost it whilst writing Christmas present tags. We suspect it went in with some child's present and ended up in a bin somewhere[emoji53] I've not been able to find another since, albeit I've not scoured around, merely moped[emoji16][emoji4]

Damson ink, eh... Prefer damson gin myself...

In all seriousness though, sounds like a wonderful hue for an ink. May look out for some myself. Never been one to keep things solely by the book, and sounds like a nice, understated way to be a little different.

I used to use fountain pens at work as no one ever nicks a fountain pen, unlike biros!!!!

I picked up a dark violet ink ages ago and that was wonderful to write in. I'd use coloured inks more often but for legal reasons I have to use black, indelible ink at work. At home I'm still working through some blue cartridges.

I have a lovely plastic ballpoint that writes sporadically and I have to lick the end to get it working. I have to say it is a fine piece of craftsmanship provided by Hampshire police!

Yes, stainless and blue Marc. Updating, I have two fountains, the other being in OK condition. The ink is Diamine Grape, not damson, sorry for misleading but at least it got us talking about booze ay Simon[emoji106]
