Cigar Box Guitars

I'm going to try making some use of my cigar boxes by turning them into guitars. I started researching online, but I'm going to make my cigar box guitars six string guitars instead of the usual 3 strings that apparently is the tradition.

My Guitars

I am going to insert a pickup and a jack for a guitar cable so I can play it through an amp. I think I'm also going to make a cigar box amp to plug the guitar into.

Robusto - you should have a cigar box amp for your keys too!

I'll keep you all posted as i acquire the materials for the guitar and I'll post pics of the progress.

I know! But someone needs to pioneer the cigar box keys amp. That would be awesome for your blues project.

It has! I had to go to the Post Office to collect it. It's cosy in my humidor with about four other decent cigars. I'm going to take my time and not rush at it.

The Blues sideline is quietly taking off. I got notice of a private gig we've been asked to do in Canterbury very soon. I'm chuffed - but I expect that word confuses you! I love playing Blues.

I use an extremely good Roland keys amp, and I have to say I am in love with it.

My brother-in-law is from Brockway, Pa, by the way. I bet that's thousands of miles away, isn't it?

In the UK, when you meet someone from England, Wales or Scotland, you could get to their home in a day if you needed to. We're a small country.

Brockway is about a 2 hour drive from me. not far at all.

Isn't Brockway a mining town? Is PA very industrial?

Isn't Allentown in PA? That's a brilliant song, I think.

I see France from where I live across the English Channel very clearly.

Most of western PA is very post-industrial; old steel mills, abandoned mines, etc.

Hi guys, I am new to the forum. I am a ukulele player, cigar box ukuleles are quite common. Dont know how a cigar box would hold up to steel strings!

Good point. I hope mine will work. I'll use .09 gauge strings to keep the tension from breaking the box.
