I think the main problem is that it came down in area very close to where there has already been ongoing conflict between the Ukrainian military and Separatist rebels. It may be non-nationals to them but it has come down in a place which could incite either side.
And you're right - that probably will make a difference. The US military seems to like getting involved in things that for the most part don't concern them! But dealing with Russia? That could be a dangerous game!Comment
