  • A weekend in the 'smoke'

    Hey guys
My mrs seems to be going for all time high 'girlfriend points' this birthday. After being told to leave the Friday clear I was informed we were going to the train station. My surprise weekend turned out to be a trip round Camden festival followed by Friday night at a metal event (managed a nice little monte pascoal matched surprisingly well with an alcoholic ginger beer, I love how they make special beer for us gingers now)
Saturday was a tube into the centre for a look around Davidoff and a nice browse with a few purchases from JJ fox before a beard trim ready for dinner and blues night at the Boisdale. It was my first time at this venue and I loved it, ate in the bar before moving onto the terrace via the cigar library, picked up a Ramon allones specially selected to which the excellent sommelier matched a Rioja as the pinot noir I'd been drinking was a little light for it. The cigar was lovely a lighter start than I expected with a definite milk chocolate by the middle moving onto a much more woody finish. The only small complaint being a few guest who seemed determined to prove the old adage you can't buy class, luckily however they didn't stay too long. Next we went upstairs to watch an excellent blues band with a great singer and harmonica player, after finishing my wine I was perusing the biggest whisky list I've ever had the fortune to be faced with when the manager came over, after realising we had paid for tickets to see the band when most people hadn't he offered us a complementary drink. Since I was already looking at the whisky's I was able to choose from there without that awkward moment where you want an expensive drink and it's not your round feeling. On taking advice I had a compass box spice tree, as I wanted a bit of peat due to already having had a smoke. This proved a delicious way to end the night alcoholic heat followed by soft peat then a almost spiced fruit cake ending.
Overall a great night to end a brilliant weekend, a very spoilt now. If you've read this little ramble this far then thank you and sorry for the bad grammar.
    Carl

there is no doubt London is a very expensive place to drink and smoke, but it is also one of the best cities in the world to drink and smoke.

Better than Havana... except on some days, of course

Love the bios dale it's nice and the bloke who manages the cigars is a solid guy. My only gripe with it is that you can't drink and smoke in the same room. If its a nice day no problem but when it's lashing down not so cool

Great way to celebrate your birthday. Congrats.

Rasptin, try the Belgravia branch of Boisdales, the cigar terrace there is much more sheltered & it has to be pretty hairy weather to make it unpleasent. Of course Victor isn't there anymore now they transfered him to the Canary Wharf site
