    Not to be picky, but I'm pretty sure Virgin's underlying IP network is separate from BT's Fibre (which all other providers except Virgin piggyback on).

    Also, attenuation doesn't seem to affect fibre as much as it with ADSL et al. I used to get 10mb/s out of a possible 40mb/s on ADSL2 but the same line gave me the full 40mbps on fibre. The fibre in my new house is at 40mbps too. Hard to tell what you're going to get though!

        IP network yes but virgin and bt both bypass through each others network like taking a shortcut to get somewere. As for the attenuation what you said deano my bad havnt looked into that much maybe should done more research on there fibre

                    Yeah, I'm pretty sure your right.... I remember the hoohar the government made when they found out that the BT infinity network was subcontracted to be built and is administered by Huwai who are a branch of the Chinese military.

                    I think they pretty much said it completely undermines the security of the UK infrastructure. Lol

                      BT infinity uses both Huawei and ECI hardware with the Chinese stuff being a lot better quality than the Israeli made ECI kit
