I got 'Ultraviolence' by Lana Del Ray for my birthday and listened to it this morning. At first I didn't think I would like it as much as her first album but by the end it had definitely grown on me and I suspect will continue to do so. This is not music for people who are prone to depression as her haunting voice never rises above melancholy on any of the songs. The best tracks for me were 'Brooklyn Baby' and 'Pretty when I cry'.
Today I'm listening to Shawn Smith songs from his various projects (Brad, Satchel, Pigeonhed) after seeing him do a solo gig in Nottingham last night. Just him and a piano/keyboard.
Absolutely fantastic singer songwriter who is criminally underrated.
