If i'm listening to music I want to hear it as close to how it should be heard as possible.

CD/Lossless Rips is still king for me for a combination of quality and convenience. Vinyl is now a rare occurrence, as is Mini Disc. High Def downloads haven't really proven their worth to me yet either.

    CD is still king.
Yeah do prefer to rip, but now find myself resorting to spotify for the convenience. Love a bit of vinyl - just invested in some speakers that were so damn huge I had to send them back....what a palaver.

Mainly listening to Phosphorescent at the mo, check out this epic track:

    And a completely different track:

What speakers did you get and what did/are you replacing them with?

Some Q Acoustic 2050i's but they're fecking huge. Every floor stander seems to be ridiculously huge. I want something much smaller but floor standing. Any tips?

(Only replacing some shitty surround sound system with an amp plus seperates)

This is what a mate suggested, but they're even taller! Nicely thin but still...

Then put monitors on good stands, Monitor Audio have dedicated stands for theirs.

I got them for exactly the same reason your looking for speakers. Full floor standing sound but much smaller than most every other floor stander on the market.

Thinking out of the box and a bit more money. If you can find a place for stand/wall mount, then the KEF LS50 are some of the best I have ever heard.... And I have heard a lot of loudspeakers.

Oh and they look lovely too!

What country? I like some too, ray lamontagne, Dixie chicks, even a movie soundtrack called "the broken circle breakdown (bluegrass). Good stuff.
