      • The innocence of our parents.
My mum said to me recently she didn't know what was wrong with the youth of today drinking so much. When she used to go to Wigan Casino people used to just drink orange juice and dance all night!

            • The birth place of Northern Soul and by extension modern dance music in general.
She spoke about how people that had come down by train from miles around would go to Wigan Baths (swimming pool to those that don't know)
in the morning before they got train home to use the showers cause they had been sweating from dancing and "to keep them awake".
Sure mum, they were struggling to not sleep. That's defiantly what was happening.

Yea from all over England in their droves and abroad

Wigan baths , yep , we went after every all nighter , swim shower , brekky .

Bank hols it was a marathon
                  Friday night oldies all nighter
                  Saturday night all nighter
                  Sunday Manchester Ritz all dayer

the thought of it now , no problem at the time tho

the scene is still massive now , and with the release of the film , more may get interested .

interestingly a lot of pubs play n soul / motown now , think theyv realised those who were into it are possibly mortgage free due to their age and therefore got money to spend ... rightly or wrongly
