Good day to one and all, i've not been around here in quite some time.
I do however come with some very sad news, which I would like to share with you.
One of the best, dearest, fairest and very knowledgeable BOTL's i've ever had the honour of knowing passed away last week from cancer.
R.I.P. PUFFSCOTTY "Dave"
Many of you knew him and will be saddened by this news.
Some of you didn't, which is a shame as he was one of the greatest.
He was a great individual and someone who touched so many hearts and a true Brother of the Leaf if ever there was one.
His Funeral was today and was a private service for his family and close friends.
We arranged a wreath in his honour which his wife very much appreciated as she knows just how important the various forums he was a valued member of were to him.
His brothers at one of his favorite haunts online arranged a collection and have donated the sum of ?1150.00 for Macmillan in his name (thank you to Jon Yoo Suk for all you have done for his family and friends.)
I hope you can find it in your hearts to leave a message and say a prayer for his family, which we will pass on to his loved ones.
My deepest condolences to his family and Mrs Puffy. Puff was a great BOTL, he gave me alot of useful info and guidance when I started my cigar obsession. Also good to see a pic of the man I always thought he would look like his little avatar.
there is a thread with lots of messages that was started by PeeJay. May be that can be sent to his family to.
Hi Yeti, wish I had seen his photo before, I envisioned him something like his avatar (well that's the only visual clue we had.) He was indeed well regarded on here & a great character to boot. I suggested having a collective smoke for him on his 1st anniversary & although most of us will be smoking on our own, we will honour him.

I think this demonstrates how well thought of he was - I only knew through his posts but he was clearly a great guy and very sad loss (when I first joined here he gave me his MAW, which I thought was a huge thing to do considering I was a complete stranger)

good times...
even if they have been virtual. they have always been true and actually happened!
outstanding praise for this man. one can only aspire to be like him in his wisdom and experience.
Cheers for sharing the image of him. and the days following up-afterwards.
Puffy could cut through everyone's shit like a laser. He was unique and knowledgeable, he will be greatly missed and I just wish I could have herfed with him.
If we can make an anniversary herf happen then I'm in.

Thank you for posting this Bad-Yeti, finally getting to see the man himself serves to remind us all that our time is limited, and if we can spend it in as full a manner as Puff did then we can rest in the knowledge that "We had one hell of a ride".
There was an extensive thread with everyones thoughs and comments which one person was going to print off and send to his loved ones (it's late and I forget who).
Rest in peace David, keep the humidors spot on for the rest of us
Thank you Deano for alowing me to post of behalf of Jane and Puffs family, they convey their thanks for all the condolences from BOTL everywhere and are heartwarmed by the kind thoughts of Puff.
The funeral was a warm celebration of a kind and generous man, Puff was piped into church with Flowe of Scotland and out with i think Flowers of the Forest. 20140704_190556.jpg
Once i have it i will post up a copy of the Eulogy from the service.
