It was a cigar conversion yes, he did say it was not a long jet flame but a double something so maybe I go that wrong. I still like it the way it is though.

ah that makes sense. you might want to take him up. It is a double soft flame, basically two of what you have now and very good for cigars.

So I went into Shave & Coster (the shop I got the Dunhill at) and the conversion is indeed a double flame. I'm gonna stick with single on this one but might ask for another for my 40'th next year and go for the double then. They do some other designs which are lurverly.

Do you find a soft flame gives the cigar a nicer start than a jet? I sometimes wonder if my jet is a little to much sometimes (operator obviously takes some blame)

I do yes, you can't do it with a clipper cos it will melt but I tease the end with a few flame licks to get a nice toast then give it a pull with flame still attached to foot. Starts well every time for me. It's also part of the ritual.

Truly a beautiful lighter...and like you, I prefer the soft flame and use it on my finest puros. Like you say, it's part of the glorious puro ritual.

I love old things, my every day wear watch is from the 30's - 40's period and still going strong, keeping good time.

I used to have a Breitling Datora but it was worth more than the flipping car I drove at the time so I got rid of it. Just made me nervous when I saw people looking at it. I bought that solid 18k LaPhare for ?600! A steal IMO. And spent the Breitling money on getting a better car. I'd have an old car but I need a reliable motor for work, I was tempted by a classic Landy but went modern in the end.
You just can't buy quality handmade stuff anymore unless you have serious wedge!

A lovely lighter Sir. I got a much cheaper Pierre Cardin lighter, pretty good band for the buck (not that kind of bang).

I'd have loved to buy a Dunhill but when I saw the prices I went into shock for a week!
