Thanks, they are costly but its a lifetime keeper. I've seen this lighter go for under ?100 used but yeah still a lot. The watch marked the end (for now) of a watch buying and selling addiction. I managed to go from a ?50 steel 40's chronograph to a ?7k Datora purely by trading up over two years. I'd buy old watches and replace the band/strap change the crystal and polish them, then sell them in auction for a profit. In the end I got about ?500 from my target which was an IWC Portuguese when the wife finally pulled the plug. This is what I wanted: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403246810.505741.jpg
I have photos of some of the watches I traded but only kept pics of watches over ?250 and somehow lost a few pics too. My current LE Phare is a lovely watch but it does have a ding in the case. I did intend to do it all again sometime but eBay charges made it unprofitable. I use it to get a buyer then when they haggle with me I accept an offer if they agree to a private sale hehehe naughty. eBay are guilty of being greedy, they charge way too much on high priced items.

I'm with you on that one tommy! I can't believe how anyone can make money on eBay with the charges... But I've always been the distrusting sort, so I have only ever twice bought anything on the site, and have rarely sold on there as I think enough people are like me to make it not worthwhile. Then again, I think I'm wrong on that front...

Gorgeous target watch, by the way. I think I'd have divorced to finish that trade up... Haha.

Haha, the thought did cross my mind. Actually she always disapproved but I finally sold the Datora because I needed a land rover more and frankly so many people commented on it that I was getting nervous. If my friends noticed it surely the robbing teenaged unwashed guttersnipes noticed it too. I have my own business so the hope is that someday I'll be able to just buy a new one...... One day.

Navitimer is basically like my old Datora in aesthetics. Lovely watches and lots of variants to choose from. Love Breitlings.

I bought a replica navitimer when I had my Datora so that I could wear it at work. I expected it to last a year but it's still going strong four years later.

I went into London yesterday and went to Harrods to see the Navitimers..... Apparently my dream watch that I can't afford is for paupers... Because when I told the fella that I can't currently justify spending over ?1k never mind ?5k on a watch he took me to see a ?120k Patek and a ?380k Baume. Both of which are worth more than my house...... Quite literally the most belittling moment of my life, nothing like having your dreams smashed. Lol

I agree in part, though the craftsmanship, attention to detail and materials were beyond anything I can even dream to own...... Still, from a design point of view the Navitimer had them beat and even if I was sitting on a lottery win ?120k would more than buy me every watch I could ever imagine owning..... Thinking about it I can honestly say that 1 Brietling, 2 Omega's, 1 Rolex, 1 IWC, 1 Zenith and a Sinn would be my lottery win purchase and I recon that would cover me for every watch eventuality I can imagine.... And that's under ?40k

Still, it's amazing that there are people on this world that can throw down that kind of money without even thinking about it.

My trip down South was quite the eye opener really. I don't think I have seen so many Porsches in my life.... They were littered around like VW Golf's up here..... Then I went to Knightsbridge and every other car was a Maserati, Ferrari or Lambourghini.... Bantley's and Maybach's were also dotted around too.

I never really saw the North as poor...... Perhaps I have been blind.

I have a good friend (occasionally of this parish) who is a watch nut. I regularly get messages to links of ridiculously expensive or hideous looking watches - some of which I would never be seen dead wearing. I finally worked it out a couple of weeks back. There are some crazily expensive watches which I might buy (if I came across a large and unexpected inheritance or lottery win), but not as watches, I would have them as works of art. People spend millions on art, so ?250k on a watch, if viewed in that sphere (rather than an horological one) is not so mad. I'd still not wear the bloody thing.
