Good morning, please take a moment today to remember those who fell or were injuried, physically &/or mentally in the re-taking of those wee islands so far away. They sacrificed for those people whom they had never met, so could live as free people under a democracry & rule of law that we all take for granted. The ironic thing is that it also lead to the political freedom for Argentina, as they over threw the ruling junta & returned to democracy themselves. So as you light up your well earned weekend smoke & open a bottle to accompany it, send your thoughts & prayers & if you wish; you can read Part 17 A&B of my Falklands Story about the surrender, posted on the blog. I will post the final episode, my home coming on Wed.

Ah! I've quite been missing those
Cheers for the post, Simon. Although it means little to me, you've made it partly relevant to our current life as a whole. And how we view it. Good to keep us on our feet so we can remember the fall of Galtieri's junta. And for freedom as a whole!

I think in some parts and wrongly so the pain suffered by people during and after the Falklands is somewhat glossed over especially to me and my generation who didn't experience it first hand. I for one will be dedicating whatever I have this weekend to these guys.
