  • SCAMMED! Bastards

After a bit of advice, I'm kicking myself for being so stupid!

I did something really daft the other day and paid for some training equipment from an online website via a bank transfer-?270!!

After having a conversation spanning several emails with the chap who appeared genuine, i paid direct into his account and waited for the goods to arrive, turns out it was a fraudster and there are quite a few fools like me who were duped by the same chap?

Is there any way of recovering my money?

I know I'm an idiot-cant believe i fell for it myself but there we go!

    Maybe inform your bank?
Although, the fact that you willingly paid the money - might work against you.
    But worth a try...

    Sorry to hear it.

    What was the website?

As far as I know because you did an electronic transfer you're fucked. Report it as fraud but don't hold your breath.

I had the same, but for ?20 by cheque the police were happy as for once it wasn't Nigeria. I gave them evidence that there was a pattern with the guy and other people. They went round and he shit himself and sent me a refund. I think he was banking on people writing off small amounts, but I can be a cunt.

Bastards. You did just say quite a few were also duped. That kinda says you weren't as daft as you think you are to fall for it.

These people are pros at what they do.

Get the evidence that others were duped printed and when the police come to chat to you hand it all over, the easier you make it for them the better (and harder to ignore) as I'm sure the coppers on here will agree.

Sadly if you've reported it to Actionfraud then they'll probably do fuck all if they're anything like the Met. Asked the bank to do a reversal?

Action fraud are useless, I tried to report a ponzi scheme, they said unless I'd lost money they couldn't do anything. I didn't loose money cos I'm smart, but the fraud was a good one with companies house docs etc. I'd report any fraud to my local force in future.
