The two of you should join us here in Canada! Too many CPRs
Especially rainbow trout which is an invasive species. High time in spring and autumn, it's legal to spearfish them. You should come and I'll show you the way!
(after maybe another 2-3 years when I'm not a noob , myself )

Thats an awesome report, I see your in Belgium do you ever make the Trek to Holland to go fish those montrous canals for Zander . I still havnt managed to catch a decent size pike yet I think my best is roughly about 6/7lbs I didnt have scales but judging by its length and girth seems about right. Sadly here in Geneva they have a kill on site rule for all pike over 40cm which was designed to protect the native perch for the restaurant trade sadly its done the opposite thing as the number of jacks has gone through the roof because no big pike prey on them. I bet a pike pulls like a train on a fly rod. Dying to get try one, I have had decent Trout, Perch, Rudd , Roach and even a bloody bat but sadly no pike.
There is something beautiful about big pike. I am a big fan of open water swimming and they always give me the chills when i see them lurking down there. Even a 20lb fish looks like a shark when magnified underwater.
Seen as its Fishy here is my little beast from the other night. Greedy little sod his a soft plastic Savage Gear Perch imitation that was clearly to big to fit in its mouth. If it weighed 1lb I would have been surprised hahaha. Sadly I lost a much bigger one when it tail walked.

When you say spearfishing you mean with a gun underwater or standing there Luddite style launching it into the water. Either way would be awesome/ Would love to live over there with a fishing&hunting ans ski guiding business.
