In lue of Simon's absence of blogging on yesterday June the 4th, i managed to finish Slaughterhouse Five right now. June the 5th.
Weird read with Wagner's Die Walkuere playing in the background. it's 0230, i've finished half the opera, and my eyes are as dry as a girl in a bedroom with Michael Moore.
Will reflect on it in the morning.Originally posted by ValeTudoGuyMarc's a Fat Molly

My worst book- Again a school book we were forced to read and take apart and look for deeper meanings. Why ruin stories by digging too deep into them?
It was Charlotte Bronte - Jane Eyre, I hated that book it wasn't even because of the storyline or the way it was written, it was the horrible horrible English literature lessons!!!!!!!!

Problem I had in school was we was all given a book at random and had to do our coursework on the book.
Being forced to read a random book you have no interest in puts you off books. I do enjoy reading now, but for a few years I wanted to
a) Burn the book
b) Burn the author
c) Burn my teacher
I can't even remember what is was called, I've tried to push it from my memory. The film children of the corn was based on it or something.

Nah, GOT is over rated, it's hard going when your thinking to yourself.... This is going to happen soon and more often than not it does. He's gone so far in his direction of trying to stray from traditional fantasy and even tragedy story telling that it's become formulaic and obvious.
It's also hard going when you want to get invested in a character only for them to be offed before any kind of development is realised.
I want to like it soooo much, the world he has created is great and he starts a few very promising characters.. Unfortunately he appears to favour the machine gun approach of killing off a potentially great character and then expecting you to start investing in the next wave of characters who inevitably won't ever see their character be developed either.
I know I'm in the vast minority in my thinking, my whole family think I'm crazy and just love it. But heck I just look at everyone fawning over it and can't help but see them all wearing the emperors new clothes.
Now breaking bad...... That's how you tell a story and develop characters!Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I used to like the Sharpe books but after a while I got a bit bored of them.
