I've only read a few but the Smiley trilogy are sublime and The Constant Gardener is a good story with solid if plain prose.

I blip in and out of reading, read a lot of Sci-Fi (mainly Star Wars) but I do enjoy factual or at least books about true stories. Sniper One I found a great read. Currently in the middle of Metallicas Biography which the brother in law bought me, I love metallica but was sceptical about a biography as I just expected it to be basically a collection of news clippings and stuff we could find on the internet but it's refreshingly not!
I tend to read a book or three and then don't bother again for a long time, doubt I'll ever get in to anything like the OP though, I prefer to be contructive with my free time... even if it is playing games on my playstation or PC haha

As you will notice I treat reading as an escape rather than anything too serious. Past favourites have been Wilbur Smith, Tolkien's both and books include the kite runner and paplillion. So I'll read anything as long as it's not a chore doing so. Struggled with Homer to such a point that I gave up on The Illiad in less than a third of the book, something I never do. I've read books that have started badly but which I have mourned the loss of at the end.
I don't have a huge amount of time to read anymore so there are a few series I read as light relaxation after work, like the Dresden Files, the Laundry Series and the Matthew Swift series, mixed with a lot of short stories, the old Doctor Who New Adventures (determined to read all those fuckers, 40 down and about 10 to go) and some contemporary stuff like the Millenium trilogy. Love me a bit of cold war le Carre or a good hardboiled detective story, Dashiel Hammet or Raymond Chandler. Then I decide to read something improving and spend a month reading about the Desert War circa 1943 on my Dad's recommendation. Or a Dawkins book or something.
Basically, I love reading.

You talk as if Napster provided anything besides a nice little reminiscent reminder of music

Luckily other artists are starting to come around to the bring people in with cheap of free music, get them to be fans and then make a living by live performances.
Hopefully the business mentality of Metallica in the music industry is becoming a thing of the past.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I've read the X-wing series and I really enjoyed that!
I've been tempted to read the GoT series as I'm loving the show. I'm just a little worries about the commitment as they're big books haha!

I can see points for both sides but at the end of the day someone put a lot of time effort and money into making these songs they should be able to protect it.
It's not really changed much anyway, spotify and deezer and many others seem to be doing a roaring trade in what's basically free legal music (to an extent)

A character without morals? Let them degrade and kill the character with morals for a bit before they get killed.
I'm very bored of the whole thing. He takes character progression and individual story arc to a point where it's going to be interesting and then just rips it away... I appreciate a writer who doesn't protect characters and doesn't just default to a happy ending.... But the guy is a sycophant or at the very least admires sycophants and I'm tired of how predictable his attempt at being opposite of traditional fantasy.
I get that the story is about the possible end of a world of magic and fairy tales and the possible start of a world of logic and the establishment of greed driven power.... But shit, I have enough of that in the real world.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14
